vision & challenges:
- create comfortable yet sophisticated home for family, entertaining
- open up small cramped kitchen to over-sized dining room, requiring structural beam and post, footing to be placed within room
- update entire space in this Vancouver home renovation
- improve heating system throughout home
design solutions:
- removed wall between kitchen/dining room to double kitchen space; installed flush beam in ceiling; disguised post with backsplash tiles
- created two functional work spaces sink/stove/dishwasher at one end of kitchen; bar area functions as secondary food prep area when entertaining
- installed expansive heated main floor tiles and wide-plank engineered hardwood
- matched new woodwork in master bedroom to custom walk-in closet and en-suite cabinetry
- removed wood burning hearth/mantels and replaced with two new sealed gas fireplaces with new surrounds
- moved laundry to upper floor
- created new flex room off living room by removing ½ of entry closet and aligning new wall with existing to vastly improve living room functionality
