vision & challenges:
  • upgrade 1980's décor and maximize storage space
  • design a spa–like bathroom
  • remove wall separating the kitchen and living area and blocking the view
design solutions:
  • modified bedroom closet to double usable space and improve architectural lines
  • created multi–purpose guest/office/library room
  • added pendant lighting and feature lighting for artwork; reduced door clutter by installing a sliding door
  • designed spa–like bathroom featuring heated floors, separate shower, soaker tub, vessel sink, walnut cabinet, floor to ceiling storage and solid surface countertops; dual flush toilets
  • centered new fireplace featuring ledge stone slate mantel to utilize dead space; space gained provides storage for stereo components
  • reduced floor finishes from six to two: tile and bamboo strand flooring
  • brightened kitchen by opening wall to living room and expanding view
