vision & challenges:
- modernize unit in adult only building with 9’ ceilings; use of flooring material restricted by Strata in this Vancouver condo renovation
- clients collections/wardrobe were consuming entire space due to lack of storage
- improve functionality of kitchen - footprint couldn’t be expanded
design solutions:
- replaced kitchen and bathroom floors with composite vinyl tile
- maximized kitchen cabinetry to ceiling height; re-configured pass-through and extended cabinetry across top; maximized drawers
- installed quartz countertops so homeowner could roll out pastry or set hot items directly on counter
- matched crown mouldings to existing fireplace surround; integrated floating shelves, cabinetry on either side
- created bench in main bathroom shower
- extended main bedroom cabinets over two walls - more than doubled existing walk-in closet space and provided display areas, TV space, dresser, drawers in one seamless unit; matched en-suite vanity to bedroom cabinetry
- created ambient lighting effect with custom designed bathroom medicine cabinet and lighting
