 HOME RENOVATION

vision & challenges:
  • couple considered moving; house dysfunctional, uncomfortable living-room, inefficient layout, poor functionality
  • envisioned multi-purpose room as heart-soul of home without focus on TV
design solutions:

  • continued aquatic theme with limestone fireplace – fossils embedded in stone
  • wrapped feature quartzite mantel to ceiling, houses TV screen
  • created accents with painted wood, grey/white cabinetry throughout; LED lit niches
  • captivating 300-gallon, custom-angled, saltwater aquarium is outstanding room feature
  • aquarium pumps/lighting integrate with audio system, follow lunar cycles, recreate tropical thunder storm maintaining healthy tank
  • automated audio-visual/blinds/lighting
  • supplemented bottom-up, top-down privacy blinds with black-out blinds for TV/movie viewing
  • activating projector closes black-out blinds, lowers screen
  • purposely situated chair between fireplace/aquarium with focused, individually-controlled ceiling light for reading
  • drop-ceiling over entry houses/hides projector; venting for heat
